Consent to sign and receive documents electronically
Signing electronically
To sign up, you sign two documents electronically: our engagement letter and OATH's authorization form, which lets the registered representative act for you. You sign by typing your name.
Before you sign, please read this.
- What you're agreeing to. You agree to sign these documents electronically, and to receive them, your receipts and other notices about your case electronically: in your case chat and by email.
- Your signature counts. Typing your name and tapping Sign has the same effect as signing on paper.
- You get a copy. We email you a copy of each signed document right after you sign, and keep it in your case. You can save or print it.
- Paper copy. You can ask for a paper copy in the chat, at no charge.
- Changing your mind. You can withdraw this consent at any time by asking in the chat. Documents you have already signed stay signed. After you withdraw, we send further documents by post to the address you give us, which can slow your case down.
- Keeping your email current. Tell us in the chat if your email changes.
- What you need. A device with a current web browser, an email account, and a way to open PDF files.
Checkbox (v1):
I agree to sign and receive documents electronically, and I can open the PDF copy you'll email me.
Record kept with each signature
For counsel's information, the sealed record for each signature holds: the signer's typed name, the time (UTC), IP address, device and browser, the version of this consent text, the version of the document signed, and the SHA-256 fingerprint of the signed PDF.
